VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The Kalmiopsis Audubon Society invites all members to participate in our group’s projects and activities. Please contact us if you are interested in becoming an active volunteer.

At this time, we need volunteers to help with programs (planning and doing), with the Storm Petrel newsletter, with outreach, and more. You can choose to help for a couple of hours or take on a larger project depending on your interests and experience.

Here are some tasks we need help with–

  • Testify at public hearings about conservation issues on an as-needed basis (please indicate your willingness to help, and we’ll call you when we need you)
  • Monitor local newspapers for news about issues that affect wildlife habitat, public lands, and the environment
  • Organize a program or outing
  • Write Letters to the Editor of our local papers in support of conservation
  • Help with the Storm Petrel mailings
  • Keep Port Orford visitor center stocked with Curry County Bird Checklists
  • Write press releases about Audubon projects and activities
  • Help with litter pick up on one of our miles on Hwy 101–one near Crook Point and one near Lookout Rock
  • Help with local trail work or invasive weed removal (or organize a work party!)

And — we are open to new ideas! Feel free to contact us with ideas of how your skills and knowledge can contribute to our work.
